There’s a clear sense of energy in the Dundee property market this summer and autumn, with plenty of activity among both sellers and potential buyers.

It’s partly the time of year. People have been making the most of the last days of summer and the early autumn to market and view properties, realising that if they act now, they could complete their move in time for Christmas.

An area on the up

It’s not just about short-term timing, though. The buoyancy in the market also stems from wider trends – such as the continuing buzz around Dundee’s gaming sector and excitement about plans for Eden Project Dundee and the E-sports Arena.

This confidence is attracting housebuilders too, with a number of new-build developments going up around the city. One new-build hotspot is the Dykes of Gray, northwest of the city, where we’re already seeing a strong resale market as a result of its popularity with young families and couples.

Hot spots and properties

Other current crowd-pullers include Dundee’s West End, nearby Newport-on-Tay and perennial favourite Broughty Ferry. Both here and elsewhere, all types of property are selling well – from traditional stone villas to affordable starter homes. Bungalows are flying off the shelves, and flats around the city are attracting investors and downsizers.

For anyone thinking of selling, it’s useful to bear in mind that buyers are most enthusiastic about properties in move-in condition. As a result, homes and flats of any size and in any area will benefit from being in their best possible state.
