The deal, which takes effect today (Tuesday 30 May), sees Miller Hendry partners and staff transfer to our firm, along with its offices in Perth, Crieff and Dundee.
Our Managing Partner Alasdair Cummings, however, hopes that the latest merger - our biggest to date - will mark the beginning of an even greater presence in Perth.
He said: “We are delighted to be in Perth with the former Miller Hendry team joining the Lindsays family, and we are excited about what the future may hold.
“We are open to further opportunities to expand our presence in the city and are committed to the area - as we are Dundee and the wider Tayside region - for the long term.
“We see huge potential for the type of expert, accessible and reliable legal advice which our team provides to support people with their personal, family and business affairs.”
Perth becomes our fourth city of operations, adding to our current offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. Our enlarged firm now comprises almost 50 partners and 300 staff. Completion of the Miller Hendry merger, first announced in March, makes a wider range of legal advice and expertise available to the former firm’s clients.
Our firm will be branded as Lindsays.
Former Miller Hendry Chairman John Thom, who remains as a Perth-based Partner as part of the merger, said: “Becoming part of Lindsays marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the team here.
“For our clients, this merger means they will benefit from a wider range of legal services, while still working with professionals they know and trust.
“Our staff, meanwhile, will now enjoy broader career options, while remaining part of a firm which retains a family feel.”
Former Miller Hendry staff based in Dundee have joined those at our offices at Seabraes. Others will remain at their current location.
This latest chapter in our strategic expansion follows similar deals with Shield & Kyd (2012), MacLachlan & MacKenzie (2012), RSB Macdonald (2015), Aitken Nairn (2018) and Hadden Rankin (2019)
